Below are four common characteristics of unhealthy relationships and how to spot them.
Unhealthy Relationships

Harmful Behavior
The most obvious sign of an unhealthy relationship is harmful behavior on either side. Whether it’s constant fighting, criticism, or abuse, no guy is worth sacrificing your sanity or safety for and there’s little you can do about changing him if he’s prone to a violent temper.

Compatibility Problems
Although opposites may attract, people who share similar values tend to fare better when it comes to lasting relationships. If you never seem to be able to come to an agreement about any of the big issues (money, sex, whether or not to get married and have kids) or are constantly having the same arguments over and over again, it may be a sign that the relationship is unbalanced.

Codependence
Especially at the beginning of a relationship, it’s normal to want to spend every waking moment with your new love. However, as the relationship progresses there should be an inevitable cooling off period where you both reemerge from your couple cocoon and get back to your regular schedules. If this never happens, however, or if one person is always demanding the other person’s undivided attention, it does not bode well for a healthy relationship.

Jealousy
Many toxic relationships revolve around jealousy and in this digital age, it is all too easy to snoop on your partner. For example, if you have made a habit of compulsively scrolling through his email and text messages, consider it a waving red flag that something is amiss, for a high-degree of trust and a healthy relationship go hand in hand.
